Episode 8: The 2019 Country Music Awards (CMAs)
Tuesday Sep 15, 2020
Tuesday Sep 15, 2020
Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!
Apologies for the weird echoing you may hear in this episode. Our mixing board had a reverb effect on that I wasn't aware about at the time of this recording, which is nearly impossible to undo in post. Hopefully it's not too bad, though.
In our eighth episode, recorded the day after the 2019 CMAs aired, Ray describes his experience watching the show at a newly-built movie theater, and relays his favorite performances and moments from the night. Later, he has RJ (who missed watching the show entirely) try and guess the winners of each category!

Episode 7: Ray's Wedding & Country Music News 11/7/2019

Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!
In our seventh episode, we once again come to the table just a bit unprepared. Granted, this was recorded shortly after a local play RJ was involved in finished up and Ray got married, so to say we had been a bit busy as of late is putting it mildly. We end up discussing the then-upcoming CMAs (and female country artists' representation on country music radio), a Randy Travis concert post-stroke, an interesting then-new music video by Chris Stapleton, and reminisce about Ray's recent nuptial and country music played at the reception.

Tuesday Jun 09, 2020
Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!
In our sixth episode, we attempt to discuss country music's ties to summertime and the beach, but are wildly unprepared for the topic. So about fifteen minutes in (which is conveniently the halfway point of the episode, since we couldn't find enough to talk about to fill more than a half hour this time), we kind of derail into topics that tie into this episode's theme at varying degrees of relevance.

Episode 5: Popular Country Music Timeline, Part Two: 1776-1818 (Pre-Country Music)
Saturday May 23, 2020
Saturday May 23, 2020
Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!
In our fifth episode, we continue our journey through the history of popular country music songs. However, we're still way back in 1776-1818 (between approximately 145-100 years before country music's official inception). Essentially, we're looking at popular (at the time they were published, at least) music that helped lead the way to the birth of country music.

Episode 4: Michigan Country Musicians & Songwriters
Thursday Apr 30, 2020
Thursday Apr 30, 2020
Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!
In our fourth episode, we take a brief look at several artists and songwriters that hail from our home, the Mitten state. (This is by no means a comprehensive list, and we plan on doing a dedicated episode or series taking a deeper look at the ties between Michigan and country music, from the artists and songwriters to the songs and stories.)

Episode 3: Never Heard "Saginaw, Michigan" & Country Music News 05/30/2019

Friday Apr 10, 2020
Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!
In our third episode, we start by trying out reading country music news via our Twitter feed, which isn't as much fun as RJ thought. We then spend the second half discussing the Johnny Cash Forever Words album, and the fact that one of us has never heard the George Jones song "Saginaw, Michigan". Also included is a bit about "discount Willie Nelson".

In our second episode, we begin our journey through the history of popular country music songs. However, we're starting way back in 400 A.D., a little over 1500 years before country music's official inception. Essentially, we're looking at popular (at the time they were published, at least) music that helped lead the way to the birth of country music.

Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!
In our first episode, we introduce ourselves to you, talking about some of our favorite country songs, artists, and albums. We also don't even make it five minutes without bringing up Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road", so there's that.
